AZANDE CULTURAL DAY CELEBRATION IN INDIA 1st JULY 2026
Ginipai to Namaste, from Yambio to Mumbai the echos of Azande cultural dances were heard as loud as the Azande akpaningbo (xylophone) by the AZANDE STUDENTS ASSOCIATION IN INDIA.
This event gathered participations from across the face of India and world wide representatives from the Kingdom of Lesotho, the Kingdom of Eswatini, other international students, university
officials, invited guests, and members of the African student community though people from East Africa including Azande Kingdom were not granted any visa due to Bundibugyo ebola Virus which was reported in Congo and Uganda. The cultural day was funded by well wishers like Hon. Simon Mikanipare who donated cash, the study Abroad program Gujarat university provided free; meals, accommodations and auditorium, Director of ICCR India Council for Cultural Relations attend in person and this helped to strengthen the unity of Azande students within India, promote and preserve Azande culture in the diaspora, build networking and visibility of Azande in India.
The Coordinator of Azande Students Association in India Mr. Emmanuel sinopai stated an important component of the Cultural Day, the Farewell Ceremony organized in honour of Azande students who successfully completed their academic studies in India during the 2026 academic year.
The ceremony recognized the graduates for their dedication, perseverance, and academic
excellence while studying far from their homeland. Their achievements serve as a source of pride for the Azande community and demonstrate the value of education in promoting national development and community transformation.
Beyond the cultural performances and celebrations, the event created lasting friendships, strengthened institutional partnerships, enhanced the visibility of the Azande community in India, and demonstrated the remarkable potential of young people when united by a common vision. Although several challenges were encountered during the planning and implementation process, they served as valuable learning opportunities that will
strengthen future programmes. The Association remains committed to continuous improvement, transparency, accountability, and excellence in serving the interests of Azande students
