AZACU CHAIRMAN MR JOHN BOSCO LAUNCHES COMMUNITY CONSTITUTION AMENDMENT IN BWEYALE

In a landmark two-day physical meeting 10th and 11th of July 2026, the AZACU committee gathered in Bweyale to deliberate on the future of the association. The highlight of the gathering was the official launch of the AZACU Community Constitution Amendment that will run upto 9th February 2027 by the Chairman, Mr. John Bosco.

 *A Gathering of Leaders from Across the Region*

The meeting brought together AZACU members and leaders who traveled from *Kampala and Arua* to Bweyale, underscoring the national reach and unity of the association. For two full days, the committee engaged in focused discussions aimed at strengthening AZACU’s governance, representation, and service delivery to communities.

The turnout reflected the importance of this moment. Participants described the meeting as both historic and necessary a chance to align the association’s founding document with the current needs of its people.

In his address, Chairman Mr. John Bosco officially launched the amendment process, calling it a critical step toward building a more inclusive, transparent, and responsive AZACU.

"Our constitution must grow with our community," Mr. Bosco said. "This amendment is not about changing for change’s sake. It is about ensuring that AZACU continues to serve every member  from Kampala to Arua to right here in Bweyale with fairness and purpose."

The launch sets the stage for a broader consultative process where feedback from members across all regions will be integrated before the final adoption of the amended constitution.

Constitutions are living documents. As AZACU expands and its role in community development grows, updating the governing framework ensures that;

Decision-making is clearer and more accountable

Member representation reflects the diversity of Kampala, Aria, and other regions  

Community programs are guided by values that match today’s realities

Over the two days, committee members worked through key proposals, debated provisions, and mapped out the next steps for member engagement.

The Bweyale meeting marks the beginning, not the end. In the coming weeks, AZACU will roll out regional engagements to share the draft amendments and collect input from the wider membership.

For many who attended, the message was clear: AZACU’s strength is in its people, and this amendment process is about putting that people first principle into writing.

As the committee wrapped up day 2, there was a shared sense of optimism. From Kampala to Arua to Bweyale, members walked away with one goal — to build an AZACU that works better for everyone.
